How do I become a citizen of Grenada?

Citizenship is governed by the Constitution of Grenada (Chapter VII) and it is recommended that the Constitution be read for the most complete information.  Briefly, persons born in Grenada are automatically citizens. All other persons fall into one of several categories, and it is best to read the Constitution to find out all the options. The Consulate General most often receives enquiries about becoming a citizen because of marriage to a Grenadian citizen or because a person’s parent is a Grenadian citizen. The Constitution states, in summary, that a person born outside of Grenada after 7th February 1974 shall become a citizen of Grenada if at the date of his/her birth his/her mother/father is a citizen of Grenada.
